The Davos Secure Hotel Badge

What it is, what it grants, and how we handle it on your behalf.

Context

What the badge is

Attending events in Davos during the World Economic Forum requires either an official WEF Badge or a Secure Hotel Badge. The Secure Hotel Badge grants access to the Secure Zone hotels and defined Promenade premises during the Annual Meeting week.

The badge is issued by the Cantonal Police of Graubünden following a mandatory background verification of every applicant. It is non-transferable and granted at the discretion of Swiss authorities.

The Davos Cabinet acts as the designated Single Point of Contact for our clients, managing the application, documentation, and pickup logistics from start to finish.

Coverage

What the badge grants

A single Hotel Badge provides access to the full Secure Zone for the duration of the Annual Meeting week, valid until 18:00 each day.

  • AlpenGold Hotel
  • Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère
  • Precise Tale
  • Defined premises of the Promenade

One badge per person covers all listed venues. Multiple badges are not required.

Verification

Swiss police background check

Every applicant undergoes a background verification by the Swiss police before a Secure Hotel Badge is issued. This is a mandatory step set by the Cantonal Police of Graubünden, not a discretionary requirement of The Davos Cabinet.

We manage the submission, documentation, and timing of the verification on your behalf so the process is invisible to you. Application materials, identity documentation, and timeline coordination are all handled by our team.

Final outcome is communicated only at the time of badge pickup in Davos.

Common questions

Frequently asked

What is a Davos Secure Hotel Badge?

A Secure Hotel Badge grants access to the secured-zone hotels in Davos during the Annual Meeting, where much of the week's private programming takes place. It is distinct from official WEF accreditation. Issuance requires a background verification by the Swiss police, which our team manages on your behalf.

What are the different badges and types of access at Davos?

Access at Davos runs on several layers. There is official WEF accreditation, the badges the Forum issues to members and invited participants. There is the Secure Hotel Badge, which grants access to secured-zone hotels and their private programming. And there is a wide range of private event invitations that require no official badge at all. Most productive weeks are built from the second and third layers rather than the Congress Centre floor.

What is the Swiss police background check for Davos?

Each Secure Hotel Badge requires a background verification conducted by the Swiss police before the badge is issued. Our team manages the submission, documentation, and timing so the process is handled for you. Final approval rests with the regional police and is confirmed at badge pickup in Davos.

Can you attend Davos without official WEF accreditation?

Yes. A large share of the week's most valuable conversations happen at private dinners, salons, and hosted events that do not require an official badge. With a Secure Hotel Badge and a curated calendar, you can have a highly productive week in Davos without being accredited to the Congress Centre.

Terms and conditions

1

General

  1. 1.1

Security measures are required during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos. Affected hotels include AlpenGold Hotel, Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère, Precise Tale, and defined premises of the Promenade. A Hotel Badge grants access to all listed venues and is valid through the end of the Annual Meeting week at 18:00 each day. One badge per person is sufficient.

  2. 1.2

The Cantonal Police of Graubünden regulates access to the Secure Zone through controlled issuance of badges and vehicle stickers. All persons in a Secure Zone must hold a valid badge. WEF Annual Meeting badges and Hotel Badges issued by Swiss authorities provide equivalent Secure Zone access.

  3. 1.3

Hotels reserve the right to decline Secure Zone access without stating a reason.

The police charge per verification check, so cancellations, name swaps, and duplicate submissions are not refundable. The Davos Cabinet does not assume responsibility for duplicate submissions made through multiple SPOCs.

  4. 2.4

Following the police check, badge status is communicated through the SPOC. Communication from the hotel to the SPOC may take up to one week, and up to 72 hours before pickup.
